getting my groove back

Did a minute of walking first, like yesterday. I also took a 1-min. walk break after 6 minutes, just to be safe, and it’s all good.

Return to running

After conquering the wee beasties in my body, went with my daughter to the Y. First, I checked my vital stats, BP 122/72 and HR 62. Yay!

Me: Hey world-I love running!
Calf muscles: Are you talking to me?
Rest of muscles: Hey bud, good to see you again.
Me to calves: Yeah, I know you fussed at me this morning, just walking around, but after sleeping all day Friday and then sitting around in the easy chair all weekend…
Calves: You call that fussing? How about this?!

I stopped abruptly at that point, 34 minutes into the run. Walked for a minute, just as when I started, hoping and praying I wouldn’t cramp up. Stretched, massaged them, put Biofreeze on, the works.

yesterday was better

Woke up with a bad headache & stiff neck. I’m beginning to wonder if I caught both Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever & viral meningitis.

eta-once I took my ibuprofen, I’ve been fine the rest of the day, without having to take more. Weird.

At Sugarite Canyon State Park near Raton, New Mexico, where the air is very thin so I had to take a couple of walk breaks going up, but it felt great coming back down! Starting elevation 7,138 ft. 4 and a half minutes negative split.

In Craig, Colorado.  Out and back from the hotel and saw a mule deer doe at the turnaround!  Pace pretty steady and the elevation about the same as my last leg in Utah, a little over a mile high.  Headaches are gone!
